Proprioception and kinesthetic awareness refer to body and brain communication. Basically, the brain controls every motion, or posture your body makes. In return the body sends sensory signals to the brain with feedback so the brain can make an appropriate response.
Sensory feedback comes from:
1. vestibulary feedback – Inner ear
2. visual feedback
3. Somatosensory feedback – nerve receptors in muscles, skin, ligaments, tendons, etc…
Constantly challenging and improving your proprioception and kinesthetic awareness is a critical component of a proper training program. At Footjax Lee MacKenzie works with a variety of athletes, but specializes in running related sports. Lee places a high priority on the foot as a sensory organ and thus through guided footwear and running surface variance you will end up with the most running resilient body possible!
